MallowDrama serves the metropolitan DC area, specializing in cakes, cupcakes, and chocolate truffles. Our distinctive hand-made desserts can be customized for any special occasion, such as weddings and commitment ceremonies (including wedding cakes, groom’s cakes, miniature cakes, edible favors, and dessert bars), holidays, religious celebrations (Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, Naming Ceremony, Bar/Bat Mitzvah), birthdays, children’s parties, quinceaneras, sweet 16 parties, graduations, promotions, retirements, engagement parties, bridal showers, bachelor/bachelorette parties, dinner parties, housewarmings, baby showers, grand openings, receptions, and corporate events.

MallowDrama is owned by Mary and David Supley Foxworth, who are also the bakers and creative team. We met 20 years ago and discovered a shared enjoyment for entertaining. Over time, we fell in love with cooking and baking and with each other. 

Art was a lifelong avocation for David, who received a Corcoran Gold Key Award, and he started to work with new, edible media. We both attended classes and assisted as volunteers at L’Academie de Cuisine in Maryland and took other courses in cake decorating. Mary received a certificate in Foods for Catering from L’Academie de Cuisine. She then put her hobby to the test, winning local cake competitions and working as a personal chef. She enjoyed it, but missed working with David.  

In 2004, we were married and started MallowDrama. We work together to design and produce desserts with a dramatic flair. David’s background in art enables MallowDrama to offer intricate hand-painted details, edible sculptures, and carved, three-dimensional cakes, while Mary concentrates on more traditional decorating techniques, cupcakes, and chocolate truffles. 

While we focus on artistry in the design and appearance of our cakes, we know that cakes are meant to be eaten and must taste as good as they look. MallowDrama uses high-quality ingredients and we are always working to expand our repertoire of creative flavors. All of MallowDrama’s products are made fresh to order and without preservatives. We use only organic eggs, butter, milk, cream, and sugar, and strive for all other ingredients as possible to be locally sourced and/or organic. Vegan and gluten-free cakes, cupcakes, and truffles are available upon request, as are items made from entirely organic ingredients.

MallowDrama offers highly personalized service and enjoys working with clients to design one-of-a-kind creations for their events. In addition, we serve our clients through our commitment to the environment and to our community. We have looked at every aspect of the business to implement practices that minimize its impact on the environment -- from recycling and composting to selection of ingredients and supplies to minimizing packaging, and much more. We also support our community through frequent donations and fundraisers.
